ABOUT

Not your "run of the mill" art gallery, The Artist Mill is a whimsical boutique that offers an eclectic mix of part fine art, caricature, and creative workshops. It is surrounded by palm trees and located mere footsteps from the sand.
The word "mill" can be represented in many ways. As a noun it means a factory for grinding raw materials. Symbolically, it represents power and skill, invaluable for economic, technological, and practical necessity.
There are many kinds of mills throughout history used to grind raw materials, for example: gristmills (which grinds grain into flour), windmills, watermills, horse mills, and treadwheels/treadmills. There are also mills that operate as factories: cotton mills, paper mills, sawmills, steel mills, sugar mills, and rice mills. In pop culture, the windmill is a power move in breakdancing.
In the same vein, The Artist Mill is not only a place to find interesting and thoughtfully curated art, it is also an environment for individuals to grind and sharpen various artistic skills through different workshops, taught by hard-working artists that care about their craft and want to share it with others.
One beautiful summer day in 2023, with a vision, sweat equity, and black and white paint, the Artist Mill was born in the heart of Hermosa Beach, California from the heart of Millie Velasco, a local Filipino-American artist that grew up in The South Bay. The goal of The Artist Mill is to cultivate the love of art and culture within the community.
Where there's a Mill, there's a way!
